What a spectacular event for our sport today at Falkirk’s Kelpies! A charity snatch marathon / relay hosted by our friends over at Forth Valley Kettlebells and their coach Niall MacKinnon (who actually introduced me to kettlebells – TY!). This event was to raise awareness and funds for Falkirk District Association for Mental Health (FDAMH).

There were 33 lifters and 146.538 TONS lifted overhead!
At the time of writing just over £2100 has been raised. Everyone is affected at some point in their lives in some way by mental ill health, either personally or in someone they love. This was a unique event for a worthy charity and all donations, however small, are greatly appreciated. Donations can be given here until 30th August 2016.
Our own Paul Lawrence made his debut to the platform… Well done Paul! Next a 10 minute?! And thank you to Dawn and Robert for coming along, supporting, counting and of course bringing chalk and water to the needy!
^Here’s Paul achieving his first 5 minute set with a 12kg bell – an impressive 77 reps.
I managed the marathon with a 10kg… a total of 1053 reps in 60 minutes.
Well done to all lifters and thank you FVKB for having us. It was great to catch up with everyone. Love our wee community. Hopefully today spread the word and more are interested in giving it a go!
^Thanks to our Dawn Leitch and Robert Copland who came along to support today, your turn for the platform next?
